Yaounde, 11 August 2026 — IBCDI (International Business Cooperation & Development Initiative) presented its national roadmap proposal, “Green Mobility Cameroon 2035,” to representatives of the Cameroonian administration. This meeting marks an important step in IBCDI’s ongoing effort to position Cameroon as a leading player in electric mobility in Central Africa.
A Well-Represented and Constructive Meeting
The meeting brought together representatives from a wide range of ministries and institutions, reflecting the cross-cutting nature of the program and the breadth of national interest it represents:
- The Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT)
- The Ministry of Commerce
- The Ministry of Environment
- The Office of the Prime Minister
- Representatives of the Ministry of Water and Energy
- The Ministry of Mines
- The Ministry of Transport
- The Investment Promotion Agency
- As well as other relevant administrations and partners
The discussion took place in a constructive atmosphere. IBCDI was able to present the full scope of its proposal: the vision behind the program, its three-phase operational architecture — from electrifying motorcycle taxis to mass transit — as well as the financing structure and governance framework envisioned to support its implementation.
The presentation highlighted the program’s core pillars:
- Strengthened energy sovereignty, by putting locally produced electricity to use instead of relying on imported fuel;
- Progressive, realistic industrialization, built step by step rather than on premature promises;
- A financing structure designed with the State in mind, limiting its direct budgetary involvement;
- Skilled job creation for Cameroonian youth, supported by a structured training component;
- Alignment with national priorities, notably the National Development Strategy (SND30) and the opportunities opened up by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The project was presented in full, without difficulty, and drew genuine interest from the participants present.
Next Steps
Following this meeting, IBCDI now awaits feedback from the Cameroonian administration on the next steps for this proposal. This is a natural continuation of the work already underway: IBCDI has submitted a detailed memorandum and remains ready to respond to any further requests from the authorities, whether technical, financial, or regulatory in nature.
